Layers of Light and Season
LAYERS OF LIGHT AND SEASON
This new series is inspired by Burnby Hall Gardens in Pocklington, East Yorkshire, which I visit frequently - a place that reveals something different each time I return. Experiencing it through changing seasons and shifting weather, I am continually struck by how the landscape can transform from week to week.
I am especially drawn to the quiet drama of the stumpery, where textures and forms emerge from the landscape in unexpected ways.
The rockery is another favourite, where the huge boulders contrast with wispy branches and tiny flowers.
The birch trees are a particular highlight, their elegant trunks and delicate branches catching the light beautifully in every season, and are especially delightful when carpeted by the cyclamen.
Each visit continues to shape and inspire this series of work.
